The story of the
Flynt and Flint families is rich in history. From the earliest known ancestors of
Ayton, Burickshire, Scotland to those that braved the danger and traveled to the New
World, and on to those of us in the present age, we are proud to present this website for
the preservation of our heritage.
We hope this site helps anyone researching the surnames of
FLYNT and FLINT. In particular, many contributors to this site are tracing the
American descendants of John FLYNT who was born about 1535 in Ayton,
Burickshire, Scotland. His grandsons, Thomas and Richard,
came to Virginia in the early 1600's. Their descendants migrated to VA, NC, TN,
AL, MS, AR, TX and CA and eventually throughout the US.
We are attempting to cover all the different family lines.
To do this, we need your help. We cannot do this project justice without the
participation of everyone who has something to share. No matter how small, each bit
of information helps to place yet another piece in the puzzle. The puzzle can never
be completed, for that is the nature of genealogy, but a clear picture can only be seen
with the pieces that only you can provide.
